Hello and welcome to Elena’s Healthy Ways. I started this blog to share the result of a journey that I started many years ago, in the quest for better health for my family and me.
Everything you’ll find here is the result of personal experiences, studies, and research I have done to get to live a life that is disease free and full of energy and happiness. After experiencing some health issues, I became very interested in disease prevention and nutrition. I started to study different approaches for getting optimal health. My desire to become an expert led me to participate in many health and nutrition seminars, conferences and courses. I left my previous career to follow my new passion for health and started to study nutrition. I became certified as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
In this blog you will find information on awesome food, recipes, healthy habits, tips, exercises and many healthy ways I have used to keep my family full of energy and disease free. I hope that by browsing through this blog you will find healthy habits that you can incorporate into your life and that will help you move forward on your journey towards a more fulfilling, happier and energized life.
What you will find here related to food is my best effort to please and fulfill needs and preferences for all in my family with food that is nourishing, fun and delicious. I focus on whole, chemical and additive free meals. I know eating organic sustainable products only is unrealistic for most people, including myself, but I’m committed to supporting organic responsible farming and non GMO options whenever I have the option to favor these food choices.
After many hard earned life lessons, I always strive for balance in everything that I do and this reflects in my meal choices. Rather than adhering to one rigorous and sometimes excluding dieting philosophy, I have studied more than 100 dietary theories and have incorporated the common grounds to give you what works best for most.
I strive to eat plant based meals 80% to 90% of the time. I incorporate animal protein about 10% to 20% of the time, favoring grass fed, cage free meats, eggs, and sustainable fish when available. I know that different body compositions, lifestyles, and beliefs need different food choices to feel their best and thrive so you will find a mix of meal choices where you can easily substitute some ingredients and tailor to your own eating needs. My philosophy is one of inclusion, respect, balance and self-discovery.
